The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of Plant Fatty Acids and Glycerolipids Symposium brings together experts in plant fatty acid and lipid metabolism to discuss recent developments in the field. A biennial conference in existence since 1993, the meeting has had a tradition of giving young scientists, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students the opportunity to present their research and interact with senior scientists. The conference is held at the Stanford Sierra Conference Center in Fallen Leaf Lake, California, which allows a small number of participants, between 100 to 120, to collaborate in an intimate and serene environment. The meeting format is modeled after the Gordon Conference with morning sessions of short (15-20 minute) oral presentations and evening sessions of plenary lectures, poster discussions, and socials. Posters are available for viewing throughout the meeting. Afternoons are free for discussions and/or recreational activities. Stanford Sierra has a main lodge and cabin clusters spread throughout the camp, offering two-bedroom, one-bath units; and three-bedroom, one-bath units. The price of attendance includes lodging, meals, and use of recreational facilities (tennis, sailing, canoeing, rowing, hiking, etc.) for the meeting. No partial stays are allowed for participants.
